Decorating Ideas for a Baby Nursery
So you are expecting a happy event in a few months' time? Plenty of time to plan and get everything ready for the new arrival: there's usually no rush anyway as most new babies spend at least a few weeks in a crib in their parents' room.
Planning the nursery is something most new parents-to-be get excited about, dreaming of pastel blues and pale pinks, primrose lemons and mint greens. There are lots of decorating ideas for a baby nursery you can decide on besides the obviously 'baby-themed' colors.
Fun with Paint
Some mothers-to-be are unfortunate enough to feel sickly during their pregnancies, but most are blooming and full of health, well able to decorate their child's new nursery. At one time paint fumes might have precluded mothers-to-be getting involved in the actual paint job, but nowadays few paints on the market give off much in the way of fumes: if they do, they tend to be banned pretty quickly! Applying paint to walls is good gentle exercise for mothers-to-be and very therapeutic, especially when viewing the finished product.
Baby Border
When it comes to commercially designed wallpapers, the supply is endless - and often expensive. One decorating idea for your baby nursery that you might one to consider is choosing a plain wallpaper and just using a baby-style border around the room rather than go to the expense of choosing one of the top of the range baby designs knowing you will probably need to change it by the time your child reaches the age of about three: most three year old little boys are less interested in yellow ducks and more interested in dragons!
Mobiles and Canopies
Another decorating idea for a baby nursery is textiles. Textiles and furnishings for babies are delightful today. Again, the choice is endless and range from ribbons and bows to modern chic, with many adorable but totally unnecessary items that are lovely to have if you have the budget for them but, if your budget is limited, your baby is certainly not going to suffer! You certainly don't need cot bumpers and cot mobiles and crib canopies: aesthetically, they are charming but, especially in the case of cot and crib bumpers, they are a hazard and could even pose a danger to the baby. It's far better not to use them. It's important that baby doesn't get too hot while asleep and, equally, doesn't become chilled.
Safety First
Most little ones are pretty energetic wrigglers, so lightweight cotton cellular blankets are probably a far better bet for keeping baby comfortable than many of the duvets on the market. Keep those for a bit later, when your baby sleeps a bit better at night. Focus on safety and the rest will take care of itself. So, what decorating ideas for a baby nursery are parents today falling for?
Fairground Favors
Another decorating idea for you baby nursery you might consider is decorating your nursery in a fairground array of colors, with white as the main colour and an array of bright hues for the different accessories. After all, most toy manufacturers - the ones that make toys for babies - pick all the primary colors because they know these are the colors that babies focus on with most ease.
Forest Glades and Shepherdesses
Focal points and accent pieces, patterns to walls and rich looking accessories: nursery furnishings today are delightful and they run from simple ideas to the exotic. Another decorating idea for a baby nursery is to try painting your nursery walls in white matt and, when dried, add a mural which can be easily bought online commercially, depicting many nursery rhyme designs. You could stencil butterflies and fairies, forest glades and woodland creatures or, perhaps you would prefer to stencil a pastoral scene with shepherdesses in the style of Bo-peep?
