Choosing Colors to Paint a Bedroom
The bedroom is your resting place till the break of dawn. The place where you come to rest after either a hectic day at the office, or at home. A day, which at times may be harrowing.
How do you want your bedroom to be? A place that has an atmosphere that envelops you in an embracing warmth? A place where you can lay your head on a pillow, read a book and drift off to sleep?
Or do you want it to be just another drab place where you would distinctly feel uncomfortable? Where you toss and turn around throughout the night loosing precious sleep and wake up in the morning bleary eyed and just as tired as you went to be the previous night.
The way you feel when you enter your bedroom depends largely on the color scheme of the room. Some colors make you feel at ease, some uncomfortable and even downright antagonistic. When painting your bedroom, choose those colors that make you feel warm or cool or neutral but inviting.
Good Colors to Paint a Bedroom - A Warm Bedroom
What are the colors that make you think of heat? Red, yellow and orange; the colors of the sun, of fire and of autumn. These are the colors that kindle a sense of vibrancy and excitement and not usually the colors of a bedroom.
Instead of the above colors, think of using warm colors warm pastel colors such as warm whites, peach and apricot. They are all good colors to paint a bedroom. If you do want some vibrancy, you could include articles with the colors of red, orange or bronze as accessories. One thing you'll want to be aware of when using warm colors is that it makes the room look and feel smaller than it really is.
Good Colors to Paint a Bedroom - A Cool Bedroom
In contrast to an atmosphere of warmth, you may want your bedroom to feel cool and just as cozy and inviting. What objects make you feel cool? Water in a swimming pool, the deep blue sea, the blue sky and the green grass? These colors - blue, green and lavender - are the ones that will make your bedroom feel cool.
They are the colors of peace and tranquility. These colors also give an illusion of expansiveness to a room than it really is. They're also really good colors to paint a bedroom.
Good Colors to Paint a Bedroom - Neutral Colors
If you are not comfortable with a warm or a cool bedroom paint it for a neutral or natural look. These are the earthy colors and the color of trees; the color of terracotta, beige and all the tones of brown. These colors form great backgrounds and are just as restful as the warm and the cool ones.
Good Colors to Paint a Bedroom - What Works For You?
Warm, cool or neutral, the color of your bedroom should be what you like, and your spouse - if you are married. If the two of you have different tastes, a combination of these colors or shades of these should work wonders.
Forget what all the interior decorating experts say. Think of your personal wants and desires because you are the one who is going to come to this hallowed room at the end of the day.
